Athidi on 3 October

The shooting of Athidi film is going on a brisk pace now. The shooting of the film is currently going on in Aluminum factory in Hyderabad. Mani Sharma composes music. The audio will be released on 5 September and the movie is expected to hit the marquee on 3rd October.

Chirutha audio on 22 August

Music of Ram Charan Teja’s debut film Chirutha is all set to release on 22nd August 2007, which happens to be the birthday of Chiranjeevi. Aditya music will release the music directly into the market. There will not be any audio function as Chiranjeevi is out of country. Currently the introduction song of hero is going on in the dance direction of Lawrence. The unit would go to Australia to shoot the remaining two songs on Ram Charan Teja and Neha. The expected release date of the film is 14 September

Two biggies on Aug 24!

Eight films are set to go on the floors on the auspicious Varamahalakshmi day – 24th of this month.
Two biggies that are releasing will be – Mathad Mathadu Mallige starring Dr.Vishnu, Suhasini, Sudeep in lead roles produced by Gandugali K.Manju and directed by ace director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar.
The other film is 'Gandana Mane' starring Shivarajkumar, Gowri Munjal produced by RS Gowda under the direction of S.Mahender is also set for release all over Karnataka on the same day.

Wedding bells!

The wedding date of actor Vijaya Raghavendra and Spandana is fixed for 26th of August in Bangalore at Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds.
Actor Vijaya Raghavendra the national award winning child actor turned hero from 'Ninagaagi' has got a moderate success rate in his career. He is very closely related to Dr.Rajkumar family. Spandana is the daughter of B.K.Shivaram, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Karnataka.
Dr.Kadri Gopalnath saxophone and Pundit Narasimha Vadavati clarionet Jugalbandi musical program is arranged for the wedding reception.

'MMM' premiere

The much hyped Kannada film 'Mathad Mathadu Mallige' premiere is on August 22 at Narthaki theatre in Belgaum district, the border of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
“This is the film aimed at the interests of farmers in the wake of major onslaught from MNC's. That's why we are having preview in a place far away from Bangalore”: says director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar.
The artiste team headed by Dr.Vishnuvardhana, technicians, farmer leaders, Sri Prabhakar Kore the big shot in Belgaum, theatre artistes, writers, cultural leaders, environmentalists are all taking part in the preview at 5 pm at Narthaki theatre in Belgaum.
The Karnataka government held assembly session at Belgaum sometime back and now a high ranking film preview is taking place at this place. In another special show at Bangalore, Mr Manirathnam, Suhasini, environmentalist Medha Patekar and others are attending the show.
Lakshmisri Combines biggest venture in Kannada starring Dr.Vishnuvardhana, Suhasini, Sudeep and others is produced by K.Manju. Mano Murthy has scored the music and Krishnakumar is the cameraman.

Mohanlal- Mega bucks!

Mohanlal has become, Malayalam cinema's highest paid actor with Thulasidas directed College Kumaran, produced by Emil and Eric. He also becomes the first actor to get an eight figure Sambalam (Salary), for a Malayalam film!
Mohanlal is reported to have been paid a whopping Rs 1.25 crore to do College Kumaran, by the producers who are real estate dealers from Trichur with NRI connections. Lal ettan was earlier charging in the Rs 60 to Rs 75 Lakhs range. But for College Kumaran, he has given priority Tatkal dates.
The Pooja of the film took place in Kozhikode on Sunday, July 15, two days before the inauspicious Karkada masam starts. Vimala Raman is the heroine of the film, and the shoot will start as soon as Mohanlal completes his Ali Bhai by July 20.
Mohanlal plays a chronic bachelor and college canteen supervisor, who advices the students on everything under the sun, including matters of love! College Kumaran is slated for Ramzan release on October 12.

Mohanlal injured!

Superstar Mohanlal was injured during the climax action scenes of his Onam film Ali Bhai in Red Hills location near Chennai.
What happened was that a dummy gun held by the "villain"( a Mumbai actor) accidentally went off during the shoot, hitting Mohanlal in the lower eyelid. Immediately director Shaji Kailas and other unit members rushed him to a nearby hospital, and first aid was provided.
After an hour, Lal was back to the sets, and completed the shot. The complete professional that he is, he went for the dubbing of the film in the evening.
Later speaking to media, Mohanlal said: "Nothing to worry about, I fealt a minor irritation on my face. All these are occupational haphazards, when you do action scenes."

Vijay gets Doctorate

‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay has been conferred a Doctorate by the Chancellor, the Board of Management and the Academic Council of Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute (Dr. M.G.R University).
Vijay will be conferred with the Degree of at the ensuing convocation of M.G.R University to be held on 27th August 2007. The noted scientist Padmabushan Dr. Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO will be the Chief Guest at the function.
This recognition by M.G.R. University and their Board of Management is to honour Vijay's spectacular achievement in the movie industry and rising to glorious heights at such a young age.
The University also strongly feels that Vijay has contributed immensely to the cause of the poor and downtrodden through social welfare activities with support from his beloved fans.
In an quick chat to Moviebuzz, the youngest actor in the world ever to be conferred with a Doctorate speaks:
What did you feel when you first heard the news? (Laughs) I thought that someone was pulling a fast one on me and told the person to stop joking. Later when the news was confirmed, I felt extremely touched and happy.
Why did you feel that someone was joking? See first and foremost, I don’t feel that I have done something great to get a doctorate. What ever little social work and help that I have done to the needy and my fellowmen was out of my sincere passion to help them. And all this getting noticed by the board and conferring a doctorate on me brings joy and great happiness.
And when is the function going to be? It will be conferred to me on Monday, August 27. And I am very happy and thrilled that Dr Madhavan Nair one of the finest scientists in India will be the chief guest.
If we were to say that it is this humble nature and modesty that makes you different from others...? Smiles

Mayajaal in a way has beaten the record of PVR, Forum Mall in Bangalore which recently screened movies in five languages. Mayajaal has plans to screen popular movies in three other Indian languages- Bengali, Bhojpuri, and Punjabi.

Chiru's 150th film and political entry!

Megastar Chiranjeevi's highly-anticipated entry into politics can definitely bring a change in the trend of state politics itself. It remains a perennial dilemma as to - When will it happen? Undoubtedly, the Megastar of Tollywood has secured a place in the hearts of the Telugu community all over the world by contributing his mite in the fight against social evils like corruption and bribery, albeit through films like his blockbuster Tagore. His off-screen activities of setting up blood bank and mobilizing people to donate their eyes have also won appreciation.
Things began to work wonders for Chiranjeevi with his mass-films like Mutha Mestri and Indra. People started idolizing him off-screen too. This is just not because of the immense screen presence that he has on the silver screen, but the good deeds he has initiated to help the poor and down-trodden. Equipped with traits like kindness, generosity and benevolence, he is largely viewed as potential politician in the making. But when will he make the crucial move?
A good chunk of state population, be it his fans or general public, strongly feel that politics is certainly not the place for Chiranjeevi. They oppose the idea of his joining politics which is full of dirt and slush. He should continue his benevolence without expecting anything in return. He would only belittle himself by making an entry into politics, the observation goes.
At the same time, another viewpoint - The present day politicians have reduced themselves into rabble-rousers. In this age of degeneration of politics, entry of someone like Chiranjeevi could be the best thing to happen to the State's political scenario. Drawing inspiration from his hits, Chiranjeevi should take the plunge and commit himself to the welfare of the have-nots. A hero like him would sure do a good job of fighting corruption in the society.
Chiranjeevi continues to be tight lipped about his political ambitions. There were statements and counter-statements by the leaders of the backward class segments. Some said they had met the megastar and convinced him to spearhead the agitation. The other group counters it saying, "Nobody has met him."
A few options through which we can study the stalemate: Firstly, his supporters want Chiranjeevi to start his own political party and not join any political group. Immediately, there is an argument. It is too late to start a political party and it would be difficult to nurture it to a booming contender for the 2009 state elections. Equally negating this, the observation goes; there is no anti-establishment wave in the state. The opposition Telugu Desam Party too is criticized as not being effective in this direction. At this juncture, can the Megastar's foray work out?
A good stretch of time had elapsed after Lok Satta convener Jayaprakash Narayan expressing his views: "If Chiranjeevi wants to join Lok Satta, we welcome it." But, who will steer the ship? It's convener or Megastar? Such being the case, Chiranjeevi can't be viewed as the sidekick in Lok Satta. Dasari Narayana Rao might play a vital role in guiding the political campaign of Chiranjeevi. If it happens, the doyen has no other go, but to join the megastar's sides or else pull the latter into the Congress Party. Will it happen?
Chiranjeevi's latest film Shankar Dada Zindabad is a washout and is classified as his biggest box office disaster. His wife Surekha is likely to produce Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy(tentatively titled film on Rayalaseema's first freedom fighter against the British) as Chiru's 150th film. If this has to happen, it would be somewhere next year. Can this mean – Chiru is confident of tilting state politics with his 150 th movie, months before state assembly elections?

Srikanth-Vandana Happy Ending!

At last a happy ending to the troubled life of actor Srikanth and ‘wife’ Vandana that created a storm! Remember that Vandana had moved into Srikanth’s house, after the actor refused to accept her, post their secret wedding on February 7 in Kakinada.
“All legal issue shave been sorted out and cases given by both sides have been withdrawn”. The actor said at the press meet held on Sunday. He added: “I wanted to end all the controversies in an amicable manner and has decided to live with Vandana. We also plan to have a big get together soon.”

Srikanth came in for the press meet with his lawyer and Vandana was conspicuous by her absence.

Tamil Nadu CM watches `Pallikoodam`

A few days before the release, Thangar Bachchan and his producer ‘Viswas’ Sundar, arranged a special screening of the film Pallikoodam, for Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi, at the Four Frames preview theatre.
Says a gushing Thangar Bachchan: “ The CM congratulated me for making, a moving film which touched his heart. I have no words to express my gratitude and thanks to CM who took time of his busy schedule to watch the film.”

Karunanidhi’s daughter and MP Kanimozhi was also there at the special screening of the film. She said that the film brought back memories of her school day.

Mohan Babu overshadows NTR?

With only few days left for the release of the much hyped NTR film Yamadonga it has turned into a kind of festival for Dr. Mohan Babu's fans all over the state.
A giant vinyl hoarding is displayed on the compound wall of his Film Nagar residence in Hyderabad and it has become a major attraction in the area. And the surprise is that hero NTR's image is not there in this hoarding!

Mohan Babu plays the role of Yamadharmaraju in the film along with young sensation NTR. Director Rajamouli himself said that but for Mohan Babu, he would have dumped the film. Meanwhile, Mohan Babu makes his appearance in a film produced by an outside banner after a big gap of ten years.

His last film was in Annamayya with Nag where he did the role of Vijayanagara King Saluva Narasimharayalu. Actress Kushboo is playing his heroine in Yamadonga.

Rajni postpones trip!

Last week Rajnikanth was supposed to fly to Thiruvananthapuram, to spend a few days at the Santhigiri Ashram in Pothencode on the outskirts of the city. The Santhigiri Ashram specializes in Siddha type Ayurvedic treatment and also spiritual healing.
Rajnikanth just wanted to take a break, and get his body and mind to shape after working hard on Sivaji. But the news of his coming had fans and television crews lining up outside the Ashram gates. It attracted so much media glare that the superstar was forced to postpone his trip to a later day.

A few months back Vijay visited Santhigiri Ashram, when his father S.A Chandrasekhar was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment. When contacted a spokesperson of Santhigiri Ashram said: " Rajnikanth will be coming to the Ashram shortly, mainly for spiritual needs and during his stay he may go in for some rejuvenation therapy"

Fans' Celebration for Sivaji 50th day at Albert Theater, Chennai

Rajnikanth's movie Sivaji has completed 50 days.

To celebrate this, hundreds of frenzied fans from the Rajini Fan Club gathered at Albert Theatre for a special screening.

This theatre has for long been considered the epicentre of Rajini mania.

"I have seen this film 15 times and I watched it only for Rajini. He is our Thalaivar," says Sampath, Member, Rajini Fan Club.

Rajinikanth's previous movie Chandramukhi is still running for more than 840 days in Chennai. Will Sivaji witness a replay of this box office success?

"I don't think it will break Chandramukhi's record because of the marketing strategy where you pump 400 prints and rake in the money. Sivaji came with 700 prints and look at it today. In the last 50 days, every Tamil film fan says 'hey I'm watching Sivaji today'. That itself is a record," says Bama Ravi, Film Critic, The Indian Express.

So this is just the end of the beginning. The Rajini mania will continue and there's bound to be more celebrations when the film completes 100 days.
